Blooming together: Cultivating fun with the Ex-Tech Signalling and Pyropress Sunflower Challenge.
3 September 2024
At Ex-Tech Signalling, we nurture creativity, camaraderie, and a sense of community among our staff. Over the past few weeks, this commitment to teamwork took on a unique and lighthearted twist through our Sunflower Challenge. The goal? Grow the tallest, biggest, or most beautiful sunflower. It was a simple challenge, but it became something much more—an opportunity for our colleagues at Ex-tech Signalling and Pyropress to come together, have fun, and share laughs along the way.
Our employees poured their energy into nurturing and caring for their sunflowers, each bringing their own flair to the challenge. Some took a traditional approach with regular watering, sun exposure, and plenty of patience. Others got creative, using their engineering mindset to push the boundaries of growth. We even had one team member experiment by watering their sunflower with energy drinks in hopes of a competitive edge! The entire process became a company-wide source of amusement, sparking conversations and friendly rivalries as everyone compared growth techniques and shared tips on how to achieve the best results.
As the weeks passed, it became clear that the competition was not just about winning; it was about coming together as a team and enjoying the journey. From tracking daily growth to exchanging stories of success and setback, our simple Sunflower Challenge brought colleagues together.
Last week, we held the grand finale of the challenge, presenting prizes in three fun categories: tallest plant, largest flower and prettiest bloom. The winner of the ‘tallest plant’ category had nurtured their sunflower owing to attentive daily care. Each winner took pride in their plants, and the dedication shown, impressive.
Throughout the entire challenge, there was a sense of camaraderie. Laughter filled the air as we shared stories of “growth-enhancing techniques” that either succeeded or hilariously backfired. The sunflower that was fed energy drinks? Let’s just say it didn’t grow as expected, but you can’t underplay the creativity or will to win! This challenge may be over, but the togetherness it created will surely continue to grow.
